Osceola School District Recycling Program

In 2001, the Osceola School District began a district-wide recycling program. This program required that all items be sorted: paper, plastic, aluminum, etc.

In 2006, the district implemented a single sort recycling program. This program allows for all recyclable materials (paper, plastic, aluminum, etc) to be placed in one container. The Osceola School District switched to the single sort method for the following reasons:

  • Single Sort™ makes recycling easier because all recyclables go in one container
  • Single Sort™ reduces the number of containers needed in order to comply with DNR recycling requirements
  • Single Sort™ can increase recycling participation which means less material being thrown into a landfill
