School District of Osceola School Board members are elected to three-year terms, and seats are filled on a rotating 2-2-1 basis. Board seats are filled during elections held on April 7, 2026 - Spring Election, and there will be two seats open for this election. All Board members are residents of the Osceola School District. All elected members take the oath of office by the fourth Monday in April 2026.
2026 Election - Important Dates
The registration period to submit paperwork to run for a seat in the next election is December 1st, 2025, through January 6th, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
November 25, 2025 - Publish a "Type A" Notice of Election identifying the seats that are open for election
December 1, 2025 – Window opens for candidates to file Campaign Registration Statements and Declarations of Candidacy
December 26, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. – Deadline for Incumbents to file Notice of Noncandidacy
January 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. - Deadline for Candidates to file to appear on the Spring Election Ballot
February 13, 2026, at 12 p.m. - Deadline for Write-In Candidate (If a Primary Election is needed)
February 17, 2026 - Spring Primary (if Primary election is needed)
April 3, 2026, at 12 p.m. - Deadline for Write-In Candidate
April 7, 2026 - Spring Election
April 27, 2026 - Persons Elected (or Re-Elected) to the School Board at the Spring Election must take and file the Official Oath of Office on or before the fourth Monday in April
Spring Primary Election (if needed)
When a Primary Election is Required:
The school board shall require a primary election if there are more than twice as many candidates as there are members to be elected to an unnumbered school board of more than 3 members.
(There are 2 seats up for election. Once there are 5 or more candidates who have submitted paperwork, a primary must be held)

Notification of Non-Candidacy
The 2021 Wisconsin Act 33 created requirements for filing officers to publicly notice when an incumbent files a Notification of Non-Candidacy with their office or if an incumbent fails to file a Declaration of Candidacy by the filing deadline.
For incumbents currently holding office, the deadline for filing a non-candidacy is December 26, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Notice of Non-Candidacy form. Click here

Spring Election: Friday, April 3, 2026 at 12 p.m.

If one or more individuals register, only votes for those registered write-in candidates will be counted. If no one registers, all write-in votes must be tallied.
Registered write-in candidates’ names will not appear on the ballot. It is the responsibility of each registered write-in candidate to inform voters that they are running for school board. The County Clerk will provide a list of registered write-in candidates to municipal clerks, and election workers may share this information only when asked by a voter. Election workers are not permitted to offer the names unsolicited or post the list at the polling place.
