Write- In Candidate Information
In summary, individuals interested in running as a write-in candidate should register with the school district clerk by noon on Friday prior to the election date (Friday, March 29, 2024 for Spring Election). To be considered a registered write-in candidate the individual must complete the Campaign Finance Registration Statement (CF-1). If individuals register, only write-in votes for registered candidates will be tallied. If no one registers as a write-in candidate, all write-in votes will need to be tallied.
Registered write-in candidates name will not show up on a ballot. It is the registered write-in candidates’ responsibility to let the voters know they are running for school board. The County Clerk will provide a list of registered write-in candidates to municipal clerks and “when asked by a voter” election workers can say who is a registered write-in candidate. Election workers cannot offer the name or post a list at the polling place.
