Driver's Education Courses

Part 1 -- Driver's Education Online Classroom

We are excited to offer our online Driver's Education class, which can be taken from the comfort of your home, at your own pace. Our program is DOT and DPI certified.  Our 30 hour online class is offered in partnership with the Wisconsin Professional Driving Schools Association. It consists of sixty, 30 minute lessons.  Students have up to six (6) months to complete the class but it can be completed in as little as 3 weeks. Once a student successfully completes the online Driver's Education class, they will receive information on how to obtain their permit application and schedule drive time with our Behind the Wheel program (Part 2 below).

Minimum Age Requirement: Students must be 14.5 years old by the first day of class.

Please note, at this time we are only accepting registrations for students who reside in the Osceola School District and enrollment is limited to 100 students. We are not currently accepting transfer Behind The Wheel students. 

Registration & Payment

To be enrolled, you must complete the registration application, and submit payment.

PAYMENT

Payment must accompany the registration form to be considered. You can pay the entire program amount up front ($375 for both the Online Driver's Education Class and Behind the Wheel driving program), or you may pay the $125 Online Driver's Education fee, and submit the Behind the Wheel fee of $250 once the online course is completed.

After Osceola Community Ed receives your payment and registration form,  you will receive an email with information on how to sign up for the online program.

Part 2 -- Behind the Wheel

Students who have successfully completed the Online Classroom Driver's Education program, submitted a payment of $250 for the Behind the Wheel program, and are 15 years old can get their permit and begin driving! Please note, in order to obtain the permit application and schedule drive time, the $250 tuition fee must be submitted, by state law. An email will be sent to students and parents once these requirements are met, with instructions on how to get your permit and schedule drive times.

The Behind the Wheel (BTW) program consists of six, two hour sessions. During each session, the student will drive for one hour and observe for one hour. Students are also required to accumulate at least 50 hours of drive time with a parent and/or guardian, with 10 of those hours being during the hours of darkness.

Other important information:

• State Law: A student must have paid for and be enrolled in a Behind the Wheel program before they can receive their permit.  
• To schedule driving times, students must join the Remind app group for Driver's Ed notifications and communication. Text  @kfdd7g3 to 81010.
• IMPORTANT: MISSED DRIVING TIMES MAY RESULT IN A $25 FEE. If a participant cannot make their scheduled drive time, they must notify the driving instructor and cancel their drive time on the Remind App within 24 hours of their scheduled drive time, or a $25 fee will be billed to the participant.
