Sometimes exposure to an allergen can cause a life-threatening allergic reaction know as anaphphylaxis. This severe reaction happens when an over release of chemicals puts the person into shock. Allergies to food, insect stings, medications, and latex are most frequently associated with anaphylaxis. If your child has a know anaphylactic reaction to an allergen, please fill out the attached action plan and provide the school with your child's epinephrine pen.
The Osceola School District also has stock epinephrine in all the health offices for anyone experiencing a severe allergic reaction. The standing order for administration of this medication is attached below.
